How to Volunteer

At The Haven we welcome and encourage volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering, please come in and see the centre manager for an informal discussion or to find out more about opportunities here.  If you decide to apply, you will be provided with an application form, as we follow the same safer recruitment processes for volunteers that we would for centre staff.  Volunteering can be very rewarding and can provide you with valuable experience to include on your CV or to progress onto further study.  We offer training in First Aid and Safeguarding and all volunteers are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and provide us with references.

Some of the volunteering opportunities available at The Haven include:

Administration: duties may involve data entry; welcome pack replenishment; photocopying and filing.

Playwork: under the guidance and support of centre staff, duties may include session set up and pack down, resource and snack preparation. We are currently looking for volunteers for our new Toy Library starting in June in Englefield Green.

Sessions:  are you a trainer or course provider who would like to volunteer to run a group or session to support our community? All sessions would require planning, observations and assessment or evaluations which are agreed with the centre manager.

Maybe you have a skill or hobby you would like to share with families?  If any of the above interests you please get in touch with us - we would love to hear from you!
